Southampton manager Russell Martin has been praised by journalist Dean Jones, with Saints having ‘big potential’.
Martin had a difficult start as Saints boss, only winning three of their first eight games, including a four-game losing streak.
But since then Saints have gone on an eight-game unbeaten run going into the November international break, with them sitting in fourth place in the Championship table.
Jones praises Saints

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has said that Martin has done a great job so far and that it is all ‘coming together’ at Saints.
“I think Martin has some serious strength in depth at Southampton. It’s taken some patience to get to this point, but seeing how this is all coming together is great to see. With this level of depth, Southampton have really big potential in the second half of the season. It comes with challenges because Martin has to manage the team selections and keep everybody happy.
“But you can see that there are players across the squad capable of big performances, and that has to be seen as a positive as you head into December when the fixture list will get busier. Then you’ve also got to come out the other side of that and assemble your proper promotion project.”
Martin doing a great job
Saints have really started to pick up in form in the Championship as Russell Martin has really got his team into gear.
Players like Adam Armstrong have really shone this season after a few poor seasons in the red and white.
Martin has also managed to deal with some of the big egos in the club with players wanting to leave in the summer but not getting their desired move, such as Kamaldeen Sulemana.
Saints will now be expected to at least get a top-six spot, and whilst they are still eight points off the automatic promotion spots, there is still a chance they could go up automatically if they catch up with Ipswich Town and Leicester City.
