Russell Martin has commented on the availability of new signing, Ross Stewart as an injury has kept him out for months.
The striker signed for the Saints on deadline day, in a move worth in the region of £9 million.
35 games were missed last season by the Scotsman with an Achilles tendon surgery and a hamstring injury ruling him out.
In spite of this he still managed to score 11 goals and assist three in just 15 games for Sunderland across all competitions.
The 27-year old has been confirmed to be back in training in order to build up his match fitness.

What has Russell Martin said about Ross Stewart?
Despite a big money signing, he won’t be available for a good length of time yet.
When asked about him, Martin said: “We can’t expect too much from Ross.
“He is on the grass and he is with the rehab physio and Bill Styles the rehab sports scientist.”

There are plenty of options for the Saints, Che Adams and Adam Armstrong represent top class choices for the Saints.
When asked how long it will be till he plays, Martin suggested: “It will take as long as it takes for us to get him to a place where we know he can be there and stay there.
“Rather than trying to dip him in too quickly and then lose him.”
These sorts of injuries can be reoccurring and need to be managed before a return.
The manager is excited to have the striker none the less: “He is massive and a great guy. I tried to sign him before, as you know. He will be brilliant for us.”
Saints fans have something to look forward to as he almost guarantees goals.
