Southampton have sent scouts to watch the international friendly between Austria and Germany.

According to Austrian outlet Laola1, Saints have sent scouts to watch the game, and are apparently looking at signing a striker.

But they are not alone, with Tottenham Hotspur also set to have scouts in attendance.

There are also plenty of other clubs from Europe that are sending scouts, including Lyon from France and Vitesse Arnhem from Holland. German teams Wolfsburg, Hoffenheim and Karlsruher.

Whilst It is unknown who exactly Saints could be watching, Sport Witness has suggested that it could be Manprit Sarkaria of Sturm Graz or Maximilian Entrup of TSV Hartberg, as they could be more affordable.

Whos is Manprit Sarkaria?

Manprit Sarkaria is a 27-year-old striker who plays for Sturm Graz in the Austrian top flight.

He is also versatile, being able to play in attacking midfield and on the right wing.

He has been at the club for over two years, joining from Austria Vienna, the team he came through at.

He only made his debut for Austria last month, starting in a 3-2 loss to Belgium.

He has begun this season well, getting three assists and scoring three times in ten appearances, with Graz sitting in second place, behind RB Salzburg on goal difference.

Who is Maximilian Entrup?

Maximilian Entrup is a 26-year-old striker who plays for TSV Hartberg in the Austrian top flight. He has started this season in electric form, scoring eight times in nine games in the Austrian Bundesliga, with Hartberg sitting in fourth place.

He joined Hartberg in the summer and has scored 11 goals in as many appearances across all competitions. He has yet to make his debut for the national side.

Do Saints need a striker?

Southampton do not need a striker, with Adam Armstrong firing on all cylinders so far this season.

Fellow striker Ross Stewart, who signed in the summer, has also only just returned from injury, so Russell Martin has two very capable options, along with backups like Sekou Mara and Che Adams.

So it is unlikely that Saints would be looking in this area to strengthen in January.
