Southampton suffered a dramatic late defeat away at Ipswich Town on Monday evening, having led for a large portion of the clash.
The South Coasters went behind inside the opening 15 minutes but found a leveller just a minute later through Che Adams.
Adam Armstrong put the visitors 2-1 to the good after getting on the end of a sublime Stuart Armstrong pass, which split open the Ipswich defence.
Though, Nathan Broadhead found the equaliser heading into the final 20 minutes before James Bree was shown a straight red card for a challenge on the opening goal scorer Leif Davis.
The Portman Road faithful spurred on their side and sucked home the winner through Jeremy Sarmiento in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
It was a cruel result for Russell Martin and he was visibly frustrated in his post-match interviews, particularly when asked about Jason Wilcox, the club’s director of football.
Russell Martin on Jason Wilcox’s potential Southampton exit

Rumours have been floating around in the media over the last few weeks regarding Wilcox’s future at the club.
Those reports intensified yesterday after news emerged that Manchester United made an approach for his services.
Asked about his potential departure, Martin responded pretty bullishly: “I’ve been hearing he’s going to leave for six weeks in the media, nothing’s changed.
“We’ve had a game, I’m here to talk about the game, not about Jason, so I’m sure, at some point, the club will be able to tell you or I’ll be able to tell you what’s going on.
“But right now, I’ve just lost 3-2, in a game where we were fantastic and I don’t really want to be talking about it.
“I’m here to talk about the game, I don’t want to talk about it. Jason’s been great for us, if he leaves he leaves, I don’t know what’s going on, but yes, let me be annoyed about the result first.”
A big summer awaits Southampton
If Wilcox does indeed depart Southampton, Sport Republic have a big task on their hands to replace the highly-rated director of football.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, targets will likely already be drawn up, so perhaps his potential exit won’t be too detrimental.
Anyhow, a lot of Saints’ business will depend on what division they end up in, and as it stands, they’ll have to battle it out in the playoffs.
A telling few weeks awaits the club and while Wilcox’s future remains uncertain, transfer plans will need to be placed on hold.
