Southampton winger Ryan Fraser was praised for his ‘big impact’ after scoring a last minute winner against Hull City.

Saints extended their unbeaten run to four games on Saturday afternoon, with Fraser scoring a 95th minute winner to take all three points back to St Mary’s.

Will Smallbone gave Saints the lead in the 20th minute, before Liam Delap equalised for the hosts five minutes later.

But a last-gasp winner from Ryan Fraser secured all three points for the away side.

Journalist for the Daily Echo, Alfie House, praised Fraser’s performance off the bench, lauding his ‘big impact’.

“Great finish for the winning goal in the final seconds. Took a clever booking to stop a counter, playing in the eight position. Doesn’t matter what else you do. Big impact.”

Could this be a turning point in Fraser’s Southampton career?

Fraser came on to make his ninth appearance for Saints since joining on loan for the season from Newcastle United.

The Scotland international is on high wages at Newcastle, reportedly on £42k-a-week, so they were eager to ship him out to relieve some of their wage bill.

Their loss is Saints gain after yesterday, with Fraser scoring his first goal in red and white.

This could be a turning point in his Saints career, after spending the majority of the last few weeks coming off the bench.

The 29-year-old has not started for Saints since September 23rd in the 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough, but will certainly be in contention for a starting spot for Saints trip to Preston North End on Wednesday night.

Russell Martin’s side are now sat in the play-off positions, and will be looking to maintain their rise in the Championship table in the coming weeks, and Fraser could be a key part of that.
