Newcastle are looking at making a move for another Southampton star with Carlos Alcaraz the name which is being tipped.
Southampton have discovered some form over the last few games, as they rise back up the table.
Two wins on the bounce has the Saints now sitting in 10th but level on points with the teams right up to fifth.
Russell Martin seems to finally have his style working and has the players on-board.
But one player who has been disappointing as he lacks contributions was Carlos Alcaraz who joined last January for £11.8 million.
Despite this, Alcaraz is the target for a Champions League side according to reports.
Alcaraz interesting Newcastle
According to Racing de Alma, Newcastle United are keen on making a move for Saints’ midfielder Carlos Alcaraz.
The Argentinan has only been at St Marys’ one year but already seems to be on his way out.
There was interest in the summer after Southampton were relegated from a few Premier League sides and also abroad. Despite the interest he remained at the Saints after no satisfactory bid was submitted.
Brighton were the club previously pushing hardest and were said to have offered a fee of £19 million for his signature. An offer that the Saints refused expecting closer to the £26m mark.
