Southampton boss Russell Martin has been told how much the club will have to pay to land one of their summer transfer targets.
Russell Martin is gearing up for his first-ever campaign as a Premier League manager.
Martin guided Southampton to a fourth-place finish in the Championship this past season before going on to win the play-offs.
After their promotion to the top flight, Southampton confirmed the permanent signing of Taylor Harwood-Bellis from Manchester City.
Adama Lallana has returned to St Mary’s this summer and has, along with Hardwood-Bellis, been joined by a further eight players.
Further reinforcements are expected at the club before deadline day on August 30th, with one deal likely to be confirmed soon.
Ben Brereton Diaz underwent his Southampton medical on Monday ahead of a permanent transfer.
Southampton also saw a £14m bid for Matt O’Riley rejected by Celtic last week as Martin aims to strengthen in midfield.

Southampton learn price-tag for Bright Osayi-Samuel
As well as working on deals for a new forward and midfielder, Southampton are also aiming to strengthen their backline.
According to Turkish outlet Sporx, Southampton, along with Premier League rivals Fulham, are eyeing a deal for Fenerbache right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel.
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United have previously been credited with an interest but it is the Saints and Fulham who are preparing moves.
Osayi-Samuel will not come cheap, though, as Fenerbache want £17m for the defender and will not entertain offers lower than this.

Bright Osayi-Samuel can replace Kyle Walker-Peters
Kyle Walker-Peters was Southampton’s primary right-back in their promotion-winning campaign, notching three goals and three assists in 46 Championship games.
However, the defender is now in the final year of his contract and Southampton have slapped a £20m asking price on Walker-Peters amid interest from West Ham United.
The Saints have already signed one right-back this summer in Yukinari Sugawara but Martin may wish to add more quality options in that area now his side are in the Premier League.
Unlike Sugawara, Osayi-Samuel has previous experience in England, making 115 appearances for Queens Park Rangers and 79 for Blackpool.
During his time with QPR, Osayi-Samuel received high praise from then-manager Mark Warburton, who, as per the Brent & Kilburn Times, dubbed him ‘outstanding’.
