Joseph Paintsil has been linked to Southampton as well as Leeds United with the two set to fight it out for his signature.

Last season the winger scored 17 and assisted 11 in an unbelievable campaign.

He is a winger who has a top class eye for goal and is able to score all sorts of goals.

From back post tap ins to long shots, he really has it all as a goal scoring winger.

The fact that he has the ability to create goals for team mates as well as this just shows what a player he is and could be.

Should Southampton sign Joseph Paintsil?

His numbers make him appear as a no brainer and when you add a sub £10 million price tag it gets even better.

The issue comes when you consider the work rate needed of players for Russell Martin’s side.

Paintsil isn’t the most hardworking, defensive wise, of wingers.

Comparing him to Nathan Tella, who he could end up relacing, there aren’t many similarities.

That being said, the Ghanian could have a future as a striker for the Saints, which would require less defensive running.

His goalscoring is undeniable and would be a great option to replace Che Adams if he leaves the club.

At £8 million pounds for a 25+ goal involvement player, who has played in a top European league, Martin needs to get this one done ASAP.

Whoever he signs for, if it is in the Championship, he will tear it up.
