Southampton forward Paul Onuachu is now extremely keen on leaving St Marys and has even requested he be sold.

Southampton have lost a great deal of players during the transfer window, and now with the Turkish window still open, they could lose more.

It was reported on Wednesday that Trabzonspor in the Super Lig were keen on signing the Nigerian forward who only joined the Saints last January.

He joined as a number nine who was viewed as someone who could change the fortunes of the Saints attack.

However as we now know, this move was unsuccessful as Southampton ended up relegated.

Onuachu close to leaving

According to a report by Sabah, the next few hours will be key in Trabzonspor’s efforts to sign the big striker.

The Turkish side decided to target the 29-year-old following a breakdown in talks for Bruno Petkovic.

It is added that the deal has ‘taken a significant step forward’ in the negotiations with Southampton, which have been helped by the striker asking for his departure to be granted.

He has asked Southampton to do him a ‘favour’ in sanctioning the move.

It isn’t known if a deal would be permanent or a loan, however previous reports suggested a loan was more likely.
