Southampton are closing in on their next signing after a Serie A youngster was spotted as part of Russell Martin’s training.
Southampton have prioritised youthful signings this summer, with there being a clear aim to build for the future.
Signings such as Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Robbie Edwards at the back are certainly players to look out for in the future, and there would be no surprises if the near future sees them pique the interests of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Whilst Adam Lallana is far from being a signing for the future, he has also been brought in to aid the development of the younger players within the ranks, and he has done so very successfully so far, with Saints boss Russell Martin giving a glowing reference on Lallana’s effect around the side.
Southampton are certainly showing no signs of slowing down with this approach, and they appear to have identified their next target, with a signing reportedly looking increasingly likely after he was spotted training with the Saints.

Southampton target Kevin Zefi spotted at Saints training
Martin’s side look likely to add Irish 19-year-old talent Kevin Zefi from Roma to their side ahead of the transfer window slamming shut, per FC Inter News.
There is reportedly ‘little space’ for the youngster at his current club, and as a result a move looks more likely to be sanctioned, however it is still yet to be reported whether it will be a permanent or loan switch.
The potential of Southampton bringing in Zefi will be decided on whether he will impress at training, otherwise he will return to Roma.

Southampton should be prioritising alternative transfer targets
The signing of Zefi certainly on the surface appears to be an exciting one, and makes a lot of sense if it is a permanent deal.
The attacker is able to play across the frontline, and has a brilliant record during his time at both Inter Milan and Roma, where he bagged 25 goals in 48 youth games, and he has also previously been handed first team experience during his time at Shamrock Rovers.
However, at the business end of the transfer window, Southampton still have a few pieces left to go into the puzzle, and they are in need of extra reinforcements, especially in the field of experienced forwards.
Adam Armstrong’s performance against Nottingham Forest proved that the Saints may need to dip into the market for a stronger striker, and any likelihood of this taking place over the next coming days should certainly not be hampered as a result of looking to bring in young prospects from abroad.
