Southampton have let go of Kareem Olaigbe to Cercle Brugge.
The club confirmed the news on their club website on Tuesday morning, with him joining Brugge for an undisclosed fee, signing a four-year-deal.
Olaigbe is a 20-year-old Belgian winger, who joined Southampton in the summer of 2019 from Anderlecht, and joined up with the Saints’ U19 side.
After being promoted to the B team a year later, he then spent the first half of last season on loan in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County, making 19 appearances in the league, but only seven of those were starts.
His lack of regular starts meant that he was recalled in January and was then sent out on loan again for the second half of the season, this time in League Two with Harrogate Town.
This loan move was much more successful, starting 19 games, scoring three times and getting five assists as Harrogate finished in 19th place, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
Olaigbe has also represented his nation, playing for them at under-20 level most recently.
He now returns to his home country to Cercle Brugge, who finished eighth in last season’s Pro League, the top flight in Belgium. They narrowly missed out on qualification for the second qualifying round in the Europa Conference League.
What does selling Kazeem Olaigbe mean for Saints?

This now leaves Southampton with less options on the wing, however Olaigbe had failed to make an appearance so far this season for the first team.
They signed Ryan Fraser on loan from Newcastle last week, but did sell Nathan Tella to Bayer Leverkusen for £20 million, who started the season for them in fantastic form.
Southampton will more than likely look for another winger ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.
