Southampton are one of many clubs interested in former Blackburn Rovers star Ben Brereton Diaz.
Brereton Diaz left Rovers for Spanish top flight side Villarreal in the summer at the end of his contract, but his start in Spain has not been as good as he would have liked.
The Chile international has only made eight appearances in La Liga for the Yellow Submarine, with only two of those being starts. He has also failed to have a goal contribution.
This poor start to the season has resulted in potential January interest from a number of clubs, one of them being Saints.
Saints interested in former Championship star

According to TEAMTalk, Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Burnley are interested in bringing Brereton Diaz in the January transfer window.
It is claimed that Villarreal would sanction a loan move, with many sides keen.
Saints are also said to be interested, along with fellow Championship sides Leicester City and West Bromwich Albion.
Brereton Diaz scored 47 goals in 177 appearances in time at Rovers.
Brereton Diaz could be brilliant signing
Ben Brereton Diaz would be a brilliant signing for Saints.
A proven and prolific goal scorer at Championship level, he could provide some well needed goals from wide positions.
He scored 14 goals in 43 Championship appearances last season, and the season before scored 22 goals in 37 appearances.
He can also play as a striker, so provides some good versatility at the top end of the pitch.
Saints do already have plenty of attacking options though, with the likes of Adam Armstrong, Carlos Alcaraz, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Samuel Edozie to name a few.
So it may be hard for manager Russell Martin to fit him in the squad.
