Southampton could yet hold onto talented defender Armel Bella-Kotchap as he is potentially too expensive for his suitors.
Armel Bella-Kotchap has so far this summer remained at St. Marys, however reports have suggested it is unlikely he stays there.
It was reported yesterday that both Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were locked in a tug of war over the young centre-back.
Two huge clubs in Bella-Kotchap’s homeland, this interest would make it extremely difficult for Russell Martin and co to convince him to remain at the club.
Southampton shelled out just under £10million for the German last summer, meaning they are not likely to accept a cut-price offer for him.
A substantial offer would be required to force the Saints hand, given the money they’ve already received from outgoings this summer.
Due to the high demands, this deal could be proving too much.

Bella-Kotchap too expensive for Bundesliga sides
The issue comes as reported by Express in Germany who explain that Borussia Dortmund can’t afford Southampton’s asking price.
Therefore they are looking at potential deals which could see a loan-move transpire.
Dortmund are keen on the player and have put out feelers to the English side, along with Bayern who have done the same.
The reported asking price is £17m which is a fee neither are willing to pay, despite the players age and potential.
Therefore the only solution seems to be a loan, which doesn’t exactly suit Southampton who would be left unable to replace him unless a likely buy-option was exercised.
Therefore we hope that the Saints can hold strong and reject any advances that wouldn’t see a big fee come into the club.
