The future of high scoring Swansea striker Joel Piroe is still up in the air with all three relegated sides credited with an interest.

Southampton haven’t been as active in the market as fellow relegated side Leicester City, however both have done better than Leeds United.

The three are all adjusting to life in the Championship and believe signing Swansea goalscorer Joel Piroe will do that for them.

According to The Athletic, it is believed that the three have all tracked him, based on his impressive record in the competition which makes him almost a guarantee.

19-goals in the Championship last season makes him one of the divisions most sought after players.

So with competition heavy, will the Saints get it done?

Piroe transfer race heating up

Southampton right now have more pressing issues than striker following the mass exodus this summer.

That being said, current striker Che Adams could also be about to leave, making it a priority position. Everton are believed to be negotiating to sign Southampton’s forward.

Therefore, it is almost imperative that the Saints push hard for the natural born goalscorer from Swansea.

Leicester’s interest is believed to have cooled off a little, meaning it is a two horse race, which the Saints must win.

The report does mention Leeds are working on a deal and therefore most advanced, but we think Southampton need to move before it is too late.

He is also said to be incredibly likely to leave Wales before the window shuts next week, and Southampton can’t afford to let Leeds win the race.

If Adams is to leave, Piroe is the best option around and he guarantees Championship goals given he is likely a Premier League level talent.
