Liverpool have reportedly seen their second bid rejected for Romeo Lavia by Southampton, according to reports.

The Saints midfielder has been one of the hottest transfer rumours all summer, with Liverpool very keen.

Jurgen Klopp has made him target number one to follow the arrivals of two other midfielders to the club.

The arrival of Lavia at Anfield would complete their summer midfield rebuild following the departures of; Jordan Henderson, Fabinho and Naby Keita.

However despite the heavy interest, the Reds are yet to make an offer which is satisfactory to the St Marys chiefs.

Arriving last summer for around £10.5million, Southampton are keen to receive a fee befitting a talent like Lavia.

Despite the negotiating position being weakened by the relegation to the Championship which could force the Saints hand in selling.

Liverpool have second bid rejected

Now following weeks of talks, Liverpool have seen their second bid for Lavia turned down, despite it being a reported improvement on the first.

According to talkSPORT, Southampton have turned down a second offer which ‘fell well short of their valuation’. No fee is mentioned in the report however.

This would be concerning for Liverpool fans as weeks of talks should have a deal close.

The initial first bid that came in was worth £35m however this and the second bid are both believed to be nowhere near the £50m that Southampton are asking for.

The report however does mention Liverpool remain confident a deal can be reached as the Saints prepare for life in the Championship.

With the season opener this weekend, we hope that the Saints chiefs don’t leave a sale too late, which could end up messing with Russell Martin’s plans.
