Southampton loanee Ryan Fraser has said that he would love to stay at St Mary’s last his current loan deal.

The winger joined Saints at the end of the summer transfer window on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, being on a wage of £42k-a-week, and has had a decent start to life on the south coast.

He scored his first goal for the club on Saturday afternoon, as he scored in the fifth minute of injury time to give Saints a 2-1 win over Hull City, which has pushed Saints up to fifth place in the Championship.

Speaking on the club website following the win at Hull, Fraser spoke openly about how much he has loved his time at Southampton so far.

“I love it. I just love it here. I love coming in each day and just loving football again is nice. I just try to get as much as I can each day when I come in and try and wear the badge with as much pride as I can and I just love it.

“I try to give as much as I can each day, try not to waste a second while I come and at the end of the season, hopefully I can stay.

“That’s the main goal to stay at the club, but there’s little goals to get there and try and help and first and foremost is to help the club get promoted.”

Could this be a turning point for Fraser?

The Scotland international has made nine appearances for Russell Martin’s side so far, with most of those coming from the bench.

Still though, Fraser has been a brilliant impact sub, with his raw pace causing problems for Championship full backs.

Saints fans will be hoping he can build on his goal on Saturday when they face Preston North End on Wednesday night.
