Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana’s red card that he picked up in Friday night’s loss to Leicester City has been overturned.

Sulemana was sent off in injury time by referee Bobby Madley after a tackle on Leicester right back James Justin.

However, it has been deemed erroneous, and the Ghanaian will now be available for selection for Tuesday night’s match against Ipswich Town.

The 4-1 loss to Leicester was the 21-year-old’s first appearance for the Saints this season, after a summer of uncertainty bad to whether he would still be at the club at the end of the transfer window, after reported interest from the likes of Everton.

Southampton manager Russell Martin has said that Sulemana was frustrated, but Martin has said he is happy to have him back available.

“He was frustrated with his performance, and I think we need to expect some rustiness,” Martin told The Daily Echo.

“He had a couple of moments really early on where I thought, ‘Okay, this is the Kamaldeen we have seen in training’.

“It slowed down a little bit after the mistake but he’s a young lad, it was his first game back and he was disappointed.

“I thought he worked really hard for the team and he will be so much better for that 45 minutes, and ready to build on that.”

Martin added: “I’m excited about what he can come in and do. He was gutted after the game, genuinely devastated that he might have to miss three games after being out so long.

“I’m really pleased they have made the right decision after the appeal and I’m looking forward to getting him back on the pitch.”

Like Aforementioned, Kamaldeen Sulemana may make a return against Ipswich on Tuesday evening.
