Everton could return with a bid for Kamaldeen Sulemana following the potential sale of Demarai Gray to Al-Ettifaq for £10 million.

The transfer window is shut, but the Saudi Arabian market is open until the end of the week and as a result Gray has been sold.

This may see Everton have some funds to invest in a replacement.

They had been linked to Sulemana over the summer but a move never came to pass.

Wilfred Gnonto is also a target for the Toffees and as a result the Ghanian may not be leaving the Saints.

Why do Everton want Kamaldeen Sulemana?

With their Jamaican winger departing the club, there is a lack of depth outwide.

Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison are still at the club but both represent injury prone risks which aren’t consistent enough.

Lewis Dobbin has had game time this season but at 20-years old he is very young and in his debut season.

Arnaut Danjuma is a winger by trade, but has been starting as a striker in a 4-4-2 formation under Sean Dyche.

This season, James Garner has been starting on the right flank, in spite of his traditional position being a central midfielder.

Saints had demanded upwards of £25 million for Sulemana which was out of the range that Everton wanted to play.

The Blues never made an official approach for the Southampton man but could now be tempted in January.

He would add pace, dribbling and a goal threat to their squad.

At such a high price, he would allow a good recoup for Southampton, just over a year after buying him.
