Southampton winger Ryan Fraser has praised Carlos Alcaraz for his attitude towards the club, saying he ‘gives everything for the badge’.

Alcaraz has been excelling this season in the Championship, making an appearance in 13 out of the 15 games this season so far.

The 20-year-old made the move to the south coast from his hometown club Racing Club in Argentina, joining in January 2023.

Speaking to the Daily Echo, Fraser was full of praise for his fellow winger Alcaraz.

“He wants to be here and he gives everything for the badge so I think as a guy, take away the teammate part because he’s a brilliant teammate and brilliant on the pitch, he is such a nice guy.

“He’s humble and that’s just what you want. Long may his performances continue because he’s been brilliant for the team.”

Alcaraz could potentially move

After a mixed start to this season, starting the first three games before failing to start in the next four, he has now settled in under the management of Russell Martin with a nice run of games, starting five of his last seven.

The Argentinian has already been the subject of interest from Premier League sides, including high-flying Newcastle United.

There was interest in Alcaraz in the summer after Southampton were relegated from more Premier League sides and abroad. Despite the interest, he remained at the Saints after no satisfactory bid was submitted.

Brighton were the club previously pushing hardest and were said to have offered a fee of £19 million for his signature. An offer that the Saints refused expecting closer to the £26m mark.
