Southampton have looked into potentially signing Lawrence Shankland from Hearts Che Adams is linked away from the club.

Adams has been rumoured to be signing for Everton with a bid in the region of £15 million lodged.

Russell Martin has already confirmed there is interest in the striker.

This has resulted in striking options being weighed up to replace the outgoing Adams.

Shankland has been enquired about, he has been linked to Saudi Arabia this window which he has ‘no interest in’.

Should Southampton sign Lawrence Shankland?

At 28-years old he appears to be an older player than typically linked with the Saints so far this window.

Last season, he was on fire. Scoring 24 and assisting four across 37 games in the Scottish Premiership.

Shankland has always been a goal scorer, scoring 179 goals across his career for nine different teams.

He is a poacher of sorts, but is also good on the ball and is is able to make passes to open up space for his side.

There is no reference point for how much he would cost, but it is likely he would be sub £5 million.

With many strikers already at St Mary’s, he would be competing for a role in the starting eleven.

At 28, this could be a great chance for the striker to have a chance of playing in the Premier League in the future.

As an option, for a cheap fee and a player who appears to be guaranteed goals, it could be a shrewd signing for Martin’s squad.
