Premier League side considering new offer for Saints midfielder

Southampton are facing two huge departures in August as Premier League clubs continue to bid for their star midfielders.

It could be a busy month for the Saints with their two star players the subject of multiple huge bids already.

James Ward-Prowse has found himself the top target of West Ham following Declan Rice’s departure.

Having had a £30million bid rejected earlier today, the Hammers are reportedly considering another bid for the talented Englishman, according to The Athletic.

Romeo Lavia has been the target of two Liverpool bids already as they look to bring in another midfielder.

Their latest offer for the talented Belgian was submitted yesterday in the region of £42million.

But despite this, Southampton have rejected instead insisting on the £50m valuation they’ve placed on him.

Southampton’s window so far

The south coast side have already had multiple departures this window, most notably Mohammed Salisu who has joined Monaco in Ligue 1.

Mislav Orsic has joined Trabzonspor after his disappointing spell at the club, while Ibrahima Diallo has moved to Qatar on an undisclosed fee.

Most concerningly, Southampton haven’t strengthened to the same degree as their likely promotion rivals have.

Leicester have added multiple top signings to ensure their likely promotion, while Southampton have brought in Shea Charles who is unproven and then Ryan Manning on a free.

If the rumoured Saints departures do go ahead, replacements will be needed, and with the season starting this weekend, this won’t be ideal.

Therefore if either or both of Ward-Prowse and Lavia are to leave, it is probably better they do sooner than later, so we have time to find a quality replacement.
