Southampton are showing interest in Leeds United right back, Cody Drameh. Russell Martin has identified him and targeted him for several years.

As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Drameh is an option for the Saints in the closing weeks of the transfer window.

The right back’s contract at the Lilywhites expires next summer. Daniel Farke may look to cash in before his deal runs down.

Who is Cody Drameh?

A product of the Fulham youth academy, the Englishman signed for Leeds United in 2021.

He made his debut for his new club in October 2021 against Arsenal in a 2-0 EFL Cup loss.

He spent the two following seasons on loan in the Championship.

His first deal saw him join Cardiff City where he strongly impressed.

Named as young player of the year, and player of the year for the Bluebirds, a great season for the youngster.

Last season he joined Luton Town.

Against all odds the Hatters secured promotion through the play offs. Drameh made 16 appearances in the successful season.

Now back at Leeds, he is yet to make an appearance this season.

What would Cody Drameh add to Southampton?

Another right back linked to the Saints. Not sure why, but let’s assess if he would be a good signing.

He undoubtably comes with positive experience of playing in the Championship, which can only be a positive.

With a year remaining on his contract, a cheaper fee may be agreed between the clubs.

With the right back being described as ‘Russell Martin’s top target’, it appears a right back must be necessary at St Mary’s.

Links to Djed Spence have sprung up recently, with questions being asked if a right back is needed.

Another link would make anyone assume that it is a priority.

He would represent great value for money and a signing that would benefit the club for years to come.

If Martin wants a right back, Drameh represents a great option.
