Southampton are about to lose another star midfield player, which makes bringing in someone now top priority.
Everyone expected high level departures at St. Mary’s this summer following the relegation to the Championship.
This has taken effect as captain and star player James Ward-Prowse has left, signing for West Ham in a £30million deal.
The Englishman is reportedly about to be joined by Romeo Lavia who is said to be closing in on a £50m move to Stamford Bridge.
Lavia had been targeted all summer by Liverpool before rejecting them in favour of a move to Chelsea.
Ibrahima Diallo is another player who left the club, leaving Southampton light in the middle of the park.
In way of midfield incomings, only Shea Charles can play there heightening the need for reinforcements.
Now reports are suggesting they’ve found their target in the form of a Newcastle outcast.

Southampton looking at Hayden
According to a report in The Northern Echo, Southampton are interested in making a move for Isaac Hayden as they attempt to bolster their midfield.
The report adds that no formal offer has been made for the services of the 28-year-old who Steve Bruce referred to as ‘valuable’.
The former England under-21 international, has been out of favour at Newcastle since the arrival of big names as he doesn’t fit Eddie Howe’s visions.
Hayden is deemed to be surplus to requirements at St James’ Park however could be a valuable addition for Southampton in their fight to gain promotion.
A move would likely suit all parties, and with a fee likely to be non-substantial, especially considering the money that the Saints have gained this summer, a move could be ideal.
It would also bring Hayden closer to his family down south, where he tried to move a few years ago.
