Southampton are interested in signing Myrto Uzuni from Granada.

According to Spanish outlet AS via SportWitness, Southampton will have competition for his signature with Leeds and Brentford also retaining an interest.

Uzuni reportedly has a release clause of €25 million, and Granada are not willing to negotiate below that, so the clause will have to be triggered if he is to leave the club.

There is also interest from Galatasaray, Stade Reims and an unnamed team from Saudi Arabia.

Uzuni is a 28-year-old who primarily operates as a left winger or as a striker, joined Granada back in January 2022 from Ferencvaros in Hungary.

Last season the Albanian international scored 23 goals whilst also getting five assists, as he helped Granada gain promotion back to La Liga.

It had been reported over the weekend that Southampton will be busy in the final two weeks of the transfer window, so this link comes as no surprise as they look to bolster their attacking options to continue their unbeaten start to the season.

Southampton do lack options on the wing and upfront in the form of experienced first-team pros, with the likes of Samuel Amo-Ameyaw being given game time at the age of 17, due to the lack of options.

A move for Uzuni would also make sense, with reports of striker Che Adams potentially moving to the Premier League, so Saints will be needing a replacement that is proven to score goals, like Uzuni.

It is unclear whether Uzuni would be happy to move to the Championship, especially with interest from the Premier League and Saudi Arabia, where he would undoubtedly be offered more money.

However, Southampton would have the money to compete after gaining over £100m in player sales with the likes of Romeo Lavia, James Ward-Prowse and Toni Livramento all being sold for high fees.
