Southampton star Kyle Walker-Peters has been named in the Championship team of the weekend.

Walker-Peters was exceptional on Saturday afternoon, as Saints came out 2-1 victors away at Hull City, courtesy of goals from Will Smallbone and Ryan Fraser, with Fraser’s coming in the fifth minute of injury time.

Walker-Peters got an assist for Smallbone’s goal, skipping past Hull midfielder Jean Michael Seri on the right hand side, driving into the box before cutting it back for Smallbone to slot home to give Saints the lead at the time.

His inclusion was confirmed on the EFL’s X account (formerly known as Twitter), which used WhoScored ratings, with Walker-Peters being rated at a 7.4/10.

Walker-Peters is one of Saints’ highest earning players, earning £20k-a-week, so it is no surprise he is one of Saints’ best players on a regular basis.

This week is a double gameweek, with Saints travelling to Preston North End on Tuesday night, before hosting Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon.

However, Walker-Peters may be played slightly out of position on Tuesday.

This is due to the suspension of left back Ryan Manning, who picked up his fifth yellow card on Saturday, meaning he is now suspended for one match.

This could see Walker-Peters be switched over to the left hand side, and so we could then see James Bree come in at right back to make his second Championship appearance of the season.

The 26-year-old was subject to plenty of tar after interest in the summer, including that of Arsenal.
