Southampton winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been praised for his performance in the 1-0 win away at Millwall.

Saints extended their unbeaten run to seven games on Saturday afternoon, with Ryan Fraser scoring in the third minute of injury time to secure all three points, his second goal in four games.

This kept Southampton in the Championship playoff places, with them sitting in fourth place, now only eight points off the automatic spots after second place Ipswich drew away at Birmingham City.

Journalist Alfie House rated Sulemana at a six out of ten in his player ratings, praising him for his energy and the problems he caused the Millwall defence.

“Good energy and regularly caused problems throughout but no goal or assist. Livened up towards the end of the first half after he was berated by Millwall fans for needing treatment on the pitch. Comfortable beating his man. Could have done better with one good chance.”

Sulemana impresses again

Sulemana has started to impress after a slow start to the season.

The Ghanaian was subject to plenty of interest in the summer transfer window, with likes of Premier League side Everton said to be interested.

But manager Russell Martin has fully integrated him back with the squad, and he is starting to show his quality in the second tier.

His stats for the game also backed up his performance.

Attacking wise he was causing plenty of problems down Millwall’s right-hand side, as he completed all of his eight dribbles.

Sulemana was also putting a shift in defensively to help out and get back, winning eleven duels.

The £22 million man does have pressure to do well from journalist Dean Jones, who has said he has ‘got to deliver’.
