Southampton defender Ryan Manning has said that Saturday’s win over Leeds United could be ‘the making of a group’.
Saints have been on a poor run as of late, losing four straight Championship games, including a 4-1 home to defeat Leicester and a 5-0 defeat at Sunderland.
They managed to end that run on Saturday afternoon however, defeating Leeds 3-1 in the lunchtime kickoff, with an Adam Armstrong brace and a Will Smallbone goal securing the three points.
Ryan Manning hoping Leeds win starts winning run

Manning spoke about the weight lifted off Saints’ shoulders with that win, and the hope that this win kicks off a decent run of games,
“It’s obviously a huge relief, we were on a tough run of late,” Manning told the Daily Echo following the win over Leeds.
“The early start, getting the goal and then building on it – which is something we have probably struggled with this season. We have previously scored, sat back and invited teams on to us.
“We really stayed on it and got the second goal and then the third. We were on the other end of that a few weeks ago – it’s really difficult to come back from.
“The last four games were tough for everyone at the club. From the top down I think. It’s never a nice feeling when you lose four on the spin, especially with the size of this club.
“As a group, coming through these moments, especially with a result like today, is massive. It can be the making of a group.
“The whole team and management need to come together now to put a nice run together to hopefully get ourselves back to where we should be in the table.”
