Romain Perraud has joined Nice on loan for the season. This move comes as Southampton have been linked to other right backs.
Perraud has returned to his former club where he spent four years between 2014 and 2018.
The Frenchman spent two years in the Premier League with the Saints, with the second sadly ending with relegation.
He made 60 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring five goals.
With links to Djed Spence and Cody Drameh this window, this move appears to be a long time coming.
Who should Southampton sign in place of Romain Perraud?
There are links to the two before mentioned full backs who would be great signings.
Ryan Manning has already come through the door and hit the ground running at St Mary’s.
Drameh is a player with plenty of Championship experience with Cardiff City and Luton Town.
He has a year left on his contract and may be available on a cheap fee, especially after not playing many minutes at Leeds this season.
Spence is another player with Championship experience and has plenty of quality to add to the Saints.
With these two as options, first what must be considered is, is a signing needed?
Mason Holgate has already signed for the club and James Bree is still there.

That leaves Russell Martin with three right back options and as a result, a new signing might not be neccessary.
A move in January should be considered for Drameh, on a free, if a right back is neccessary.
If the defence is going well and he is not needed, Saints should spend that money elsewhere.
